Ram Nath Kovind: Turkmenistan is an important partner for India


During his visit to Ashgabat, President of India Ram Nath Kovind called Turkmenistan an important partner country and thanked for supporting New Delhi's initiatives at the UN, Indian media write.
Kovind noted that he had discussed in detail with President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov the prospects for bilateral relations. During the talks, the parties agreed to intensify efforts to further strengthen the multifaceted partnership and exchanged views on various regional and international issues.

Separately, the importance of the international transport corridor "North-South" and the Ashgabat agreement on the international transport and transit corridor was emphasized.
The President of India noted that during the talks an agreement was reached on further expanding cooperation within the India-Central Asia format.
The heads of state also discussed the Afghan problem, sharing a broad regional consensus on issues related to the settlement of the situation in Afghanistan, Kovind said.
