The President of India arrived on a three-day visit to Ashgabat


Indian President Ram Nath Kovind arrived in Ashgabat on a three-day state visit on Friday afternoon. At the international airport of the Turkmen capital, he was met by Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov and Minister of Education Gurbangul Atayeva.

According to Turkmen tradition, children at the airport offered bread and salt to the honored guest, says the official Twitter account of Kovind.
Then, a solemn ceremony of meeting between the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the President of India took place.

The upcoming summit talks will discuss ways to strengthen bilateral ties, as well as partnerships between India and Central Asia.

This is the first ever visit by an Indian President to Turkmenistan, and it takes place immediately after the inauguration of the new Turkmen President.

According to the Indian news agency ANI, the visit will last until April 3, after which Ram Nath Kovind will leave for the Netherlands.
