Serdar Berdimuhamedov assured Guterres of his intention to expand cooperation with the UN


President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, during a telephone conversation on Tuesday with UN Secretary General António Guterres, announced the results of the elections in the country and his intention to continue active work as chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of the Milli Gengesh (upper house of parliament).
The President thanked Guterres for his attention to the development of cooperation between the UN and Turkmenistan, which has accumulated a positive experience of interaction in such areas as ensuring peace and security, sustainable energy and transport, solving economic, social, humanitarian and environmental issues.
António Guterres highly appreciated the contribution of Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov in support of the UN, noting that over the 15 years of his activity as President of Turkmenistan, contacts have been deepened in many vital areas, including the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals and the solution of world problems.
Then the UN Secretary General spoke with the President-elect of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, congratulating him on his victory in the elections and wishing him great success in the highest state post.
Serdar Berdimuhamedov stressed that he intends to continue to implement the country's foreign policy, including the expansion of multifaceted cooperation with the UN, contributing to strengthening global peace and sustainable development for all.
