Special Representative of the UN Head spoke about the contribution of UNRCCA to the prevention of security threats


Speaking at the International Conference “Regional Cooperation of the Central Asian Countries in the Implementation of the UN Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy”, Ms. German stated that UNRCCA (headquartered in Ashgabat) and the CTU, within the framework of a separate project, help the Central Asian countries to increase professional potential in such areas as combating terrorist financing, border security, cybersecurity, increasing the role of civil society, especially youth and women, as well as the media and religious leaders in preventing security threats.
“We also covered such specific areas as the role of sport in preventing extremism,” added the Special Representative of the UN Secretary General.
Natalya German expressed confidence that the updated Joint Plan, approved by the participants of this high conference, will serve as a sound basis for cooperation between the countries of the region and the UN in the field of preventing violent extremism and countering terrorism in the coming years.
Addressing all representatives of the Central Asian countries, Herman congratulated on a significant date - on the 30th anniversary of the accession of the states of the region to the UN and, on behalf of the Secretary General, expressed her commitment to a constructive and multifaceted partnership.
