President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov took part in the opening ceremony of the XXIV Winter Olympic Games, which took place at the National Stadium "Bird's Nest" in Beijing.
The guests of the solemn ceremony, who arrived in Beijing on the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping were also the presidents of Argentina, Egypt, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Poland, Russia, Singapore, Serbia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Ecuador, the Emir of Qatar, the prime ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Greece, Mongolia, Pakistan, King of Cambodia, Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Prince of Monaco, Grand Duke of Luxembourg, Princess of Thailand, UN Secretary General, IOC President, WHO Director General, SCO Secretary General, as well as a number of other foreign officials.
In total, 109 sets of medals in 15 sports will be played over 16 competitive days of the Games.
