Russian Ambassador to Turkmenistan commented on the issue of visa-free regime

The Russian Embassy in Turkmenistan hosted a press conference by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Alexander Blokhin dedicated to Turkmen-Russian relations. The diplomat walked through the key areas of bilateral cooperation and summed up the results of the outgoing year.
Alexander Blokhin noted that today Russia has agreements on visa-free travel with 68 countries. And cooperation with Turkmenistan in this direction depends on the mutual consent of the two parties.
– In recent years, the level of Russian-Turkmen relations has reached the highest level. Turkmenistan and the Russian Federation are strategic partners. This is a huge merit of the presidents of the two friendly states, which is obvious. And I am proud that our embassy, together with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, have contributed to these achievements,-Blokhin commented.
When asked whether Russia could consider the possibility of a visa-free regime with Turkmenistan unilaterally, as Turkey did, the representative of the Russian Federation replied that Russia only agreed to parity.
– If any state wants to establish a visa-free regime with Russia, then only bilaterally. We do not have a single exception to this rule, like Turkmenistan, on the territory of which foreign citizens can come only on the basis of a visa.
