Berdimuhamedov gave instructions on the implementation of the foreign policy strategy of Turkmenistan


Priority issues of foreign policy cooperation of Turkmenistan were considered during a video meeting between President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov.
The Foreign Minister reported on the results of his working trips to Pakistan and India, where the delegation of Turkmenistan took part in international forums and held bilateral negotiations.
In particular, they discussed the meeting of foreign ministers in the format of the Dialogue "Central Asia - India", which took place in New Delhi.
On this platform, proposals from Turkmenistan were voiced to establish more effective mechanisms for diplomatic and trade-economic cooperation, including for the integration of energy and transport-communication resources of the region. First and foremost, are the projects of the TAPI gas pipeline, the transport corridor Uzbekistan-Turkmenistan-Iran-Oman. There are also other joint projects that, in the opinion of the parties, carry strategic nature.
The participants in the dialogue in New Delhi paid special attention to the Afghan problem. In this context, Turkmenistan reaffirmed its positions, including on establishing international negotiations with the new Afghan government, strengthening the key role of Afghanistan's neighboring countries in this process.
During the meeting of the foreign ministers of Turkmenistan and India, it was emphasized mutual readiness to develop cooperation in various fields, primarily in the energy sector.

It was proposed to create a Turkmen-Indian interdepartmental commission for the implementation of the TAPI gas pipeline project, as well as hold a regular meeting of the Steering Committee of this project.
In addition, it was noted that India attaches great importance to the participation of the President of Turkmenistan as an honored guest in the celebration of the Republic Day of India on January 26, 2022.
In Pakistan, the delegation of Turkmenistan took part in an extraordinary meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation on the humanitarian situation in Afghanistan. The head of the Turkmen Foreign Ministry also met with President Arif Alvi and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan.
The main topic of the talks was the implementation of the TAPI gas pipeline and the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan power transmission line. To promote the TAPI project, it was proposed to create a joint commission at the level of the responsible departments.
President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov named Pakistan and India among the key and reliable partners of Turkmenistan in the region. In this regard, the head of state noted the importance of regional projects initiated and promoted by Turkmenistan, the implementation of which will create conditions for the economic development of the entire region.
The Turkmen leader said that Turkmenistan would continue to develop cooperation with Pakistan and India and addressed Foreign Minister Meredov with a number of instructions on the implementation of a diplomatic strategy based on the principles of the country's neutrality.
