Interests of Turkmenistan and SCO coincide in strategic parameters - Serdar Berdimuhamedov


Interests of Turkmenistan and the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation coincide in strategic parameters. It is necessary to turn these interests into practical plan, to fill them with real maintenance with an access to joint projects. Deputy-Chairman Serdar Berdimuhamedov stated it at the XX session of Council of heads of the governments of the SCO countries. The session was held in a videoconference format on Thursday.
For Turkmenistan relations with the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation are an important direction of international interaction, participation in global and continental affairs, Serdar Berdymuhamedov said, having noted that the SCO countries-participants - traditional partners of Turkmenistan, its neighbours and friends.
In his opinion, big prospects of development of partnership of Turkmenistan with SCO are in the trade and economic sphere, in industrial cooperation, in the field of hi-tech manufactures, the considerable potential is available in power and transport branches.

Turkmenistan forms a combined transport-logistical network, which should join important continental routes in directions of the North-south, and the East-West, therefore the country’s government supports expansion of international business dialogue for development of real projects in this context, the Deputy-Chairman underlined.
He also supported development of humanitarian links of Turkmenistan and SCO, including in the spheres of science, education, public health services and, in particular, in the field of combat against the pandemic. Serdar Berdimuhamedov reminded of the initiatives put forward by Turkmenistan in this area and support from the side of SCO will promote their advancement for common interests to creation of reliable international system of counteraction to dangerous infections on a long-term basis.
The Deputy-Chairman also conveyed the invitation of President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to all participants of SCO to the international conference of ministers of developing countries, which do not have an access to the sea, which Ashkhabad has planned to host with the United Nations in April 2022.
Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Askar Mamin, Minister of Foreign Affairs of India Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, Prime Minister of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China Li Keqiang, Chairman of the Cabinet - the head of Presidential Administration of Kyrgyzstan Akylbek Japarov, Chairman of the government of Russia Michael Mishustin, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Prime Ministers of Tajikistan - Kohir Rasulzoda, Uzbekistan - Abdulla Aripov, Belarus - Roman Golovchenko, Mongolia - Luvsannamsrai Oyun-Erdene, the first vice-president of Iran - Mohammad Mohber.
SCO - the international organisation founded in 2001. Its participants are India, Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Pakistan and Uzbekistan. The countries-observers in SCO are Afghanistan, Belarus, Iran and Mongolia, the countries-partners - Azerbaijan, Armenia, Cambodia, Nepal, Turkey and Sri Lanka. At the SCO summit in Dushanbe in September there begun procedure of admission of Iran in the organisation.
