TechWomen 2022: Technology Entrepreneurship Program for Women


TechWomen empowers, connects and supports the next generation of women leaders in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) from Africa, Central and South Asia and the Middle East, giving them the access and opportunities they need to advance their careers.
The five-week mentoring program will kick off in Silicon Valley, California with a series of workshops on leadership skills, innovation, and creative thinking. The members will then travel to 15-day one-to-one programs at leading innovative companies and organizations in Silicon Valley and the San Francisco Bay Area. Each participant will undergo a mentoring program and then join other participants from their country for a group assignment.
Participants will also be able to take part in public works projects in California, and in cultural and recreational activities. TechWomen 2022 will conclude with a three-day program in Washington, including a visit to the State Department, where they will meet with State Department officials and discuss their achievements in the program.
Applicants can choose one of six areas when completing the questionnaire: information technology, green technologies, science, internet, biotechnology, or telecommunications.

Applications are reviewed by independent selection committees made up of industry leaders and regional experts. Semi-finalists may be interviewed by the US Embassy in their country of residence.
Applicants must:
Be women with at least two years of professional experience in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics). Please note that internships and other unpaid work experience do not count towards the 2-year professional experience requirement.
Have at least a bachelor's / four-year university degree or equivalent.
Be proficient in written and spoken English.
Be citizens and permanent residents of: Algeria, Cameroon, Egypt, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Kyrgyzstan, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Nigeria, Pakistan, Palestinian Territories, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Tajikistan, Tunisia, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan or Zimbabwe at the time of application and while participating in the program.
TechWomen encourages people with a variety of backgrounds and skills, including people with disabilities.
Fall TechWomen 2022 must be online by 9:00 AM PT (GMT-08:00) Wednesday, January 5, 2022.
Applicants will be notified of the status of their application (non-selection or semi-finalist) no later than April 30, 2022. The semi-finalists will be contacted for an interview in the country no later than April 2022. Final decisions will be made no later than May 31, 2022.
The TechWomen Program covers the following costs:
International round trip, domestic flights from San Francisco to Washington, accommodation in San Francisco or Sunnyvale, California, meals and surcharges, hotel stays in Washington DC, public transportation to the participant's host company, and local transportation to events group program in the San Francisco Bay Area and Washington DC.
