An application of Turkmenistan to join WTO was handed in Geneva


Submission of the written application of Turkmenistan to enter into membership of the World Trade Organization took place on Wednesday, November 24, in WTO headquarters.
The application letter signed by Deputy-chairman Serdar Berdimuhamedov was handed by Atageldi Haljanov, resident representative of Turkmenistan at United Nations branch office in Geneva to director general of WTO Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala.

Member countries and observers of the WTO at the 12th Ministerial conference (MC12) which will take place in Geneva from November 30 to December 3, 2021 - for the first time for four years will consider the application. At the plenary session of the conference Minister of Finance and Economy of Turkmenistan Muhammetgeldi Serdarov, who will make a visit to Switzerland the next week, will speak.
Turkmenistan was given a status of an observer in the World Trade Organization on July 22, 2020.
