Business communities of Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan can create a joint transport company
The Turkmen-Uzbek online talks on the development of cooperation in the field of transport and communications, held on Thursday, brought together the heads of transport departments and their divisions, customs services and other structures of the two countries.
A number of documents were considered on the agenda of the 1st meeting of the Turkmen-Uzbek Working Group on the Development of Transport and Transit, including the Regulation on the transit of citizens of Uzbekistan through checkpoints on the territory of Turkmenistan and permits for transit through the territory of Turkmenistan for service personnel of the refrigerated cars of JSC "Uzbekiston Temir Yullary", amendments and additions to the Agreement on international automobile passenger and freight traffic.
The issue of granting tariff preferences for the transportation of transit goods through Uzbekistan was also considered. In order to carry out contactless international road cargo transportation, the resumption of the operation of the previously closed checkpoints "Kunyaurgench-Khodjeyli" and "Dashoguz-Shavat" on the Uzbek-Turkmen state border in compliance with all sanitary and epidemiological measures was discussed.
The parties exchanged up-to-date information on the organization of contactless road cargo transportation, providing for the prevention of foreign cars and truck drivers on the territory of Turkmenistan: the transfer of cargo, documents and money takes place at a specially equipped site between checkpoints in neutral territory. Further, the abandoned cargo is disinfected and only then is delivered to the territory of Turkmenistan.
The parties considered the possibilities of the Turkmenbashi International Seaport as a logistics center, optimization of the cost of port services when transporting goods along the route "China - Kyrgyzstan - Uzbekistan - Turkmenistan - Azerbaijan - Georgia - Turkey - Europe" and launching a multimodal transport corridor connecting China and Europe.
The delegations of the two countries discussed measures to intensify the practical implementation of the Ashgabat agreement on the formation of the international transport and communication corridor "Uzbekistan-Turkmenistan-Iran-Oman", as well as the prospects for cooperation in the field of joint use of cargo flights in the directions of flights operated by OJSC "Airline" Turkmenistan" and the organization of flights of the Turkmen airlines to Uzbekistan.
In addition, they discussed the issue of organizing meetings of business communities involved in international cargo transportation in order to establish strong ties to create a joint transport company.
The Uzbek side also put forward proposals on direct purchases of aviation fuel produced by the Turkmenbashi oil refineries complex, the organization of maintenance and repair of Turkmen aircrafts on the basis of Uzbekistan Airways Technics LLC and in the field of modernization and repair of rolling stock at the car repair plant of “Uzbekistan Temir Yullari” JSC.
Another point of the talks was the organization of joint work to expand cooperation with Iran in the field of transport and transit, as well as the exchange of information on the transit of goods to / from Afghanistan.
