Over 10 years, the number of sports facilities in Turkmenistan increases by more than a third
The number of sports facilities in Turkmenistan, built by the state to promote the physical culture attitude in the country, has increased by 39.3 percent over the decade. By the beginning of 2021, the number reached 5,717 units, while in 2011, there were 4,103 sports facilities. ORIENT was provided with the data by the State Committee on Statistics.
It proves that the government creates task-orientated conditions that allow practicing the favorite sports and leading a healthy lifestyle for all groups of the population, regardless of social or economic status. Small children, youth, adults and people of retirement age – sports facilities are being built in Turkmenistan for representatives of all ages.
The number of stadiums with stands to hold football matches and athletics competitions has increased by 108.5% in the period of 2011-2020. In this regard, thousands of fans of the game of millions have the opportunity to train in modern, high-quality arenas. For some, it even opened the doors to the world of a big football.
The number of standard sports grounds and fields for amateur competitions increased from 2,734 in 2011 to 3,699 in 2020. The growth was 35.2 percent. Obviously, nearly the same percentage of people got the opportunity to lead a more active lifestyle and play their favorite sports in that regard.
Over the decade, the number of gyms in Turkmenistan has raised by more than 50 percent. In 2020, it reached 1,867, while in 2011 there were 1,235. The number of paid pools also increased significantly – from 35 in 2011, to reach 75 in 2020. The growth was 114.2 percent.
The number of sports and recreation centers in Turkmenistan rose from 21 units in 2011 to 30 in 2020. At the same time, in 2015, there were 35 such facilities – some of them were closed for reconstruction, and after that they were put into operation again.
The number of sports facilities in Turkmenistan is expected to increase even more in the coming years. It will be facilitated by the Program for the Support and Development of Physical Culture and Sports in Turkmenistan for 2021-2025, approved by President Berdimuhamedov in January.
