Ukrainian companies are interested in the Turkmenbashi Seaport capabilities


The logistics capabilities of the Turkmenbashi International Seaport were presented at a video conference between representatives of the Ministry of Finance and Economy of Turkmenistan and the Ministry of Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture of Ukraine.
The meeting was organized with the participation of the Turkmen Embassy in Kiev with the aim of enhancing trade and economic cooperation between the two countries and familiarizing Ukrainian state-owned enterprises and entrepreneurs with the technical resources of the Turkmen seaport in the Caspian Sea.
The head of the Ukrainian delegation noted the Ukrainian companies’ interest in creating a logistics center on the territory of the International Seaport of Turkmenbashi for the purpose of exporting Ukrainian goods to Turkmenistan and other countries of the region, as well as importing Turkmen goods to Ukraine.
An informational video presentation of the port facilities in Turkmenbashi and its transport and logistics infrastructure, as well as Balkan Shipyard and plans for the development of shipbuilding in Turkmenistan until 2025 was held for the Ukrainian partners. In addition to trade cooperation, the Ukrainian side is also invited to cooperate in the field of ship repair and shipbuilding.
After the presentation, questions-and-answers session was held in accordance with the agenda. Director of the State Design and Survey and Research Institute of Marine Transport Chernomorniiproekt Sergey Nikulin spoke about the activities of the institution, including the development of the marine industry objects, and also expressed interest in participating in relevant projects in Turkmenistan.
The Ukrainian side was also informed about the compliance of the Turkmenbashi International Seaport with the requirements of the multimodal transport system and about the ongoing work on the port digitalization.
It was noted that on February 12 this year, the President of Turkmenistan approved the Foreign Trade Strategy of Turkmenistan for 2021-2030, which opens up great opportunities for stimulating investment activity and extending cooperation in this direction, including with Ukrainian companies.
