Turkmenistan discusses in Minsk the creation of a Commission on Human Rights in the CIS


The next meeting of the expert group on the establishment of the Commission on Human Rights of the Commonwealth of Independent States was held on September 10 at the CIS headquarters in Minsk.
The meeting, which was held using videoconferencing, was attended by representatives of Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and the CIS Executive Committee.
The main issue on the agenda of the meeting was the consideration by the experts of the CIS member states of the draft updated Statute on the Human Rights Commission of the Commonwealth of Independent States prepared by the Russian side.
The meeting also discussed the draft Protocol on Amendments to the Convention of the Commonwealth of Independent States on Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms as of May 26, 1995 and the corresponding draft Decision of the Council of CIS Heads of State.
The experts will continue to work on the drafts of these documents. The next meeting of the expert group is scheduled for November 23, 2021.
