Berdimuhamedov instructs to create extracurricular paid courses in the state education system

The President of Turkmenistan instructed Minister of Education Orazgeldy Gurbanov to include paid courses in the state curricular system, which children will be able to attend in addition to the main classes at school, TDH news agency informs. The new courses will be intended, primarily, for children in the regional centers of the provinces of Turkmenistan. The courses can help enhance the intellectual and creative talent of young people, give additional support to prepare students for admission to higher educational institutions. At a meeting with the heads of educational and scientific institutions, Berdimuhamedov noted that extracurricular courses should be of interest to the younth. For their organization, the Ministry of Education should arrange the issuance of necessary permits and licenses. The school educational system should help children acquire initial work skills, therefore, within its framework, it is necessary to establish a specialty profiling, the head of state said. Extracurricular courses will allow children to further deepen their knowledge in the area they like, to acquire skills useful for future work. It is not yet clear whether extracurricular paid courses to be integrated into the general educational system or not, as well as what entities will be granted with licenses for their organization. The Ministry of Education will clarify these issues within the next few days. The output of such initiative would be a long-term-result. While the access to additional education at an early age, including for children in rural areas, would support the creation of a generation of proactive specialists with deep knowledge of their chosen profession.
