In period of 2018-2020, in Turkmenistan, the number of new farms has increased by 1.8 times. The source at the State Committee on Statistics informed the ORIENT. Hundreds of entrepreneurs in rural areas have the opportunity to engage in the production of agricultural products and sell them on domestic and foreign markets. The newly opened farms have created additional hundreds of jobs in the outlying districts of the country. In 2018, 142 farms were registered in Turkmenistan. A year later, this figure reached 276. And in 2020, the number of new entrepreneurs in rural areas have totaled 357 farms, which is 187.9 percent more when compared to 2018. One of the factors in increase in the number of farms in Turkmenistan is the development of vegetable and fruit processing industry. New factories for the production of import-substituting goods buy fresh crop products from agricultural producers to produce various fruit and vegetable purees, juices, canned food, etc. The increase in the number of farms is also facilitated by the improvement of the legal framework. New regulations and amendments to laws have simplified the registration procedure for new farms, creating favorable conditions for the development of agribusiness in rural areas. In addition, according to the order of President Berdimuhamedov, banks of Turkmenistan provide agricultural producers with preferential loans to open and expand business, purchase new agricultural equipment. The high rate of increase in the number of new farms will further reduce the cost of seasonal and processed agricultural products for local consumers. The development of domestic agriculture also contributes to increase the export of crop products. In 2020, the growth in the supply of vegetables increased by 3.2 times in relation to 2018. As compared to 2015, Turkmen export in this category increased by a record 1,717.2 percent.
