Pakistani Foreign Minister begins regional tour - after Dushanbe and Tashkent, he is expected in Ashgabat


Foreign Minister Shah Mahmoud Qureshi has launched a regional diplomatic tour of four countries - Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan and Iran. The purpose of the visits is closer coordination on the situation in Afghanistan.

Qureshi has already met with Tajik Foreign Minister Sirojiddin Muhriddin Qureshi and had a conversation with President Emomali Rahmon in Dushanbe, and also spoke with Uzbek Foreign Minister Abdulaziz Kamilov in Tashkent.

“While underlining Pakistan's support for an inclusive political system, the Foreign Minister noted that peace in Afghanistan will bring stability to the region, promote trade and facilitate people-to-people connections,” the Pakistani Foreign Ministry stated.
