Prospects of development of motor transit through Turkmenistan were discussed in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs

Turkmenistan is focused on development of intermodal transit ways connecting the heart of Asia with remote partners in Europe and other parts of the world. Prospects of development of automobile transit as an integral part of overland cargo transportation, by the video communication experts of the International Road Transport Union (IRU) have presented. For Turkmen colleagues - heads and representatives of the Mejlis, Central Bank, State Customs Service, "Turkmenawtoulaglary”, “Turkmendemiryollary” and "Turkmendenizderyayollary" agencies and Turkmen Association of International Automobile Carriers (THADA), experts presented the report on the advanced experience of cargo transportation with motor transport use. They also paid the attention to importance of introduction of electronic systems of verification of throughput documents for simplification and acceleration of procedures on borders. The system of preliminary declaring of cargoes of international appointment TIR-EPD, working through the Internet was for this purpose presented. TIR-EPD – a convenient mechanism used by international motor transporters for free transfer to customs bodies of the preliminary information in the electronic form. Among the countries which have already introduced system - Austria, Belarus, Germany, India, Iran, the United Arab Emirates, Russia, Saudi Arabia, and also the nearest neighbours of Turkmenistan in Central Asia. Besides it, the parties discussed application of the international legal documents and their influence on the national legislation, and also questions which can arise in the local and international legal fields. Turkmenistan today is one of the most perspective transit hubs of the region with ample opportunities for development. Having the advanced port and aviation infrastructure, the country is aimed at modernisation of railway and automobile means of communication. The unification of all four kinds of transportation of cargoes in a uniform system is a central goal of the current reforms of the sector. Successful results of perfect transformations do not keep waiting. The transit corridor «Lapis Lazuli», which united Afghanistan, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey, has already shown not only economic, but also humanitarian importance.
