Turkmenbashi seaport strengthens the role of the regional transit hub

Departments of the transport and communication complex of Turkmenistan, in order to in-crease cargo turnover and increase the transport and transit potential of the country, are developing new approaches to organizing international cargo transportation.
Industry experts analyzed the transport situation in the Central Asian region. The analysis showed that most of the transit freight traffic today is carried out in the direction of the In-ternational Sea Port of Turkmenbashi-Uzbekistan, Altyn Asyr (Etrek) -Kazakhstan, etc.
Support measures are being developed to increase the transit capacity of the seaport of Turkmenbashi. Thus, according to logistics experts, the dry border ports created for this purpose, which would take over the transshipment and storage of goods between its trans-portation by water, and the customs clearance of goods, could significantly “help” the sea-port.
