Law on construction of disinfection barriers at its state border enters into force in Turkmenistan


In Turkmenistan, on Tuesday, the Law “On Amendments and Additions to Certain Legislative Acts of Turkmenistan” signed by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and published in the newspaper Neutral Turkmenistan has entered into force. Article 221 “On strengthening control measures at border checkpoints” has been added to the Law of Turkmenistan “On State Border of Turkmenistan” adopted on 4 May 2013, the document amendment reads. According to the new article, in the event of any circumstances that might cause massive damage to public health, in order to provide for special and enhanced additional types of control, disinfection barriers for vehicles and facilities designed to disinfect automobile and railway transport, are constructed at checkpoints, and they carry out related disinfection work. In line with the article, disinfection and fumigation works against insects following the results of the initial inspections of under quarantine plants and products made from them, which are imported to the country, are carried out in these facilities. The relevant ministries and departments on behalf of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan are responsible for necessary work under the new article. The law comes into force from the date of its official publication. There is no confirmed novel coronavirus cases in Turkmenistan. According to experts, early restrictions on international transport and passenger traffic, as well as quarantine measures regarding Turkmen citizens and foreigners arriving from countries with unfavorable epidemiological situation, allowed Turkmenistan to prevent a possible entry of coronavirus in its territory.
