To make sports closer: a free judo section for girls has opened in Ashgabat


Ashgabat sports school enrolls girls aged of 8 to 14 ages in the judo section, where they will get an excellent opportunity to train with young athletes representing Turkmenistan in the international arena.
Actively promoting sports and a healthy lifestyle, Turkmenistan made sure that sports were available to everyone who wants go in for sports. That is why another new section of judo offers a training completely free of charge; you just have to come and apply for the section. The main idea is to take young ladies away from the gadgets and bring them to really useful life habits. And perhaps among them there are will be sports talents.
“We always have enough boys, while girls in judo are extremely valuable,” coach Ulyana Nazarova says. “I myself once read the advertisement in the same way and wanted to discover this martial art. Now sport from a hobby has turned for me not only into a profession, but also has become a meaning of my life. I can not find words to describe those feelings when you win competitions and get awarded with the cherished reward.”
Ulyana Nazarova is the winner of the 2017 5th Asian Indoor Martial Arts Games. The judoka says that judo is not the easy type of martial art, but the training helped her to develop the strong will. Judo classes are discipline, self-confidence and self-belief, as well as physical and mental development.
“All my awards and trophies are my dad’s pride,” Ulyana notes. “At first, my parents tried to discourage me from going into such a “non-girlish” sport, but even then my character developed in training helped me to stand upon my choice as I was used to set goals and achieve them.
The Japanese word “judo” is translated as “soft” or “flexible way”. In judo, not the strength and mass in the ability to “crush” an opponent, but by dexterity, ingenuity and flexibility, which allow defeating the enemy, are much more important. Therefore, judo is quite a suitable sport for girls who easy come with training and make progress in the first lessons.
The main idea of judo, created by the founder of this martial art, Jigorō Kanō, reads: “To win, you should give way to your opponent”. That is why training starts not with fighting techniques, captures and attacks, but with general physical training, aimed at strengthening the body of the future wrestler.
- Children who start training in the teenage section eventually have the opportunity to be called into the national team of Turkmenistan, where the best of the best are selected. There are judo sections in all regions of the country, and regional competitions are held. For young athletes, participation in tournaments is an excellent motivation for further physical and moral development.
Judo training takes place at the Dagdan stadium (former Lokomotiv) in Ashgabat three times a week in the morning and afternoon.
