Turkmen parliament passes a series of new bills
A number of new laws were adopted at the ninth meeting of the Mejlis of the sixth convocation held in Ashgabat. Turkmen parliamentarians considered draft laws “On electronic document, electronic document management and digital services”, “On environmental information”, “On the establishment of the anniversary medal of Turkmenistan“ Türkmenistanyň Bitaraplygynyň 25 ýyllygyna ””. In particular, the law “On electronic document, electronic document management and digital services” will form the legal basis for digitalization in the country, regulating relations in this area. The concept of development of the digital economy of Turkmenistan for 2019-2025 provides for increasing the efficiency of functioning of all sectors of the economy through the use of information technologies. The law defines the rules and regulations for preparing, sending, and protecting electronic documents, digitally signing them, and providing electronic services. The Law of Turkmenistan “On Environmental Information” provides for the expansion of the availability of information on environmental safety, information on pollution and environmental protection, rational use of natural resources. To this end, the Ministry of Agriculture and the Environment of the country will create a state fund for environmental information, which may be available not only for citizens of Turkmenistan, but also for foreign tourists. According to the deputies, the adoption of the law will increase the environmental responsibility of citizens, will allow to receive timely and reliable information about the state of the environment. The parliamentarians of the country also introduced changes and additions to a number of existing laws of Turkmenistan.
