Buddhist temple may appear in Tashkent


A Buddhist temple may appear in Tashkent, Uzbek media reported with reference to the administration of the Uzbek capital. This became known as a result of negotiations between the Ambassador of India in Uzbekistan Santosh Jah and Tashkent Mayor Jahongir Artykhodzhaev.
During the meeting, Santosh Ja asked for the assistance of the capital's mayor in a number of issues, including the opening of the Mahatma Gandhi memorial in honor of the 150th anniversary of his birth, as well as the allocation in Tashkent at the request of the local Indian community of land for the construction of a Buddhist temple.
The ambassador put forward a number of proposals to increase the tourist flow to Uzbekistan, among which - the development of air links between the two countries, and, in particular, the launch of direct flights to Tashkent, the opening of Indian restaurants.
The head of the metropolitan administration expressed his readiness to provide comprehensive assistance in resolving these issues within his competence. Artykhodzhaev said that last week an area was allocated for Indian companies to build the buildings of a hospital, university, water park and several other facilities, while the total cost of the project exceeds $ 1 billion.
He added that the mayor's office of Tashkent is ready for multifaceted cooperation, including in the humanitarian, sports, cultural, urban planning and other fields.
