China to boost the share of natural gas consumption by 2020

In 2020, China’s natural gas consumption will continue to increase amid the country’s efforts to tackle air pollution, the director of PetroChina, China’s largest oil and gas producer, said. Currently, Chinese government has been promoting efficient, large-scale use of natural gas in sectors including industrial fuel, gas-fired power and transportation, Xinhua informs. In addition, it is done under the released state plan to reduce harmful emissions into the atmosphere. It is worth to mention that Turkmenistan is a top supplier of natural gas to China. According to PetroChina, in 2019, over 47.9 billion cubic meters of natural gas were exported through the transnational Central Asia-China gas pipeline.
