Presidential election results announced in Afghanistan

On Sunday, the Independent Election Commission of Afghanistan announced the preliminary results of the vote in the presidential election.
According to the Electoral Commission, incumbent President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani is the leader in the election, gaining 50.64% of the vote, according to Afghan media.
His rival Abdullah Abdullah scored 39.52% of the vote. The third place is occupied by Gulbeddin Hekmatyar, with 3.85% of votes, Tolo TV channel reports. The head of the NRA IRA Hava Alam Nuristani said that 1.9 million Afghans took part in the elections.
“923 thousand 868 voters, or 50.64% of voters, voted for Muhammad Ashraf Ghani. His main rival, the incumbent prime minister (Abdullah Abdullah), received in his support 720 thousand 099 votes - (39.52%), the chairman of the Islamic Party of Afghanistan Gulbuddin Hekmatyar - 70 thousand 243 votes (3.85%), Rakhmatulla Nabil (former the head of the National Security Directorate - IF) 33 thousand 921, or 1.86%,” announced Nuristani.
The presidential election in Afghanistan took place on September 28, but the announcement of the results was repeatedly postponed. Recall that the work of the Independent Electoral Commission during the 2019 presidential election was repeatedly criticized. The reason for the active protests in many provinces of the country was the decision of the department to attach to the count about 300 thousand disputed votes with signs of fraud, in particular, violations related to photographs of voters, as well as a mismatch in the registration time during the voting.
The election complaint committee has committed to checking the voting results. Meanwhile, Abdullah Abdullah and a number of other candidates said they would not accept votes registered outside the time of voting.
