Climbing Festival for people with disabilities was held in Ashgabat

In Ashgabat, the White Cane Climbing Festival was held at the training base of the Agama Climbing Club in the railway park. The event was co-organized by the Climbing Club and the Deaf and Blind Society of Turkmenistan. The Youth Union of Ashgabat, the UNDP and UNICEF offices in Turkmenistan, supported the noble action.
Every participant was able to try himself on five prepared tracks. Earlier, the festival was held here in 2017. This time, the sports festival gathered about fifty people who stormed the climbing wall. Participants are people with disabilities, members of the Deaf and Blind Society of Turkmenistan, their relatives and friends.
In such events, the main thing is mood and self-confidence. There was a good motivation from organizers. Before the participants climbed the vertical wall, the audience of the training complex supported all of them by inspirational songs. Under the loud accompaniment of the guitar, the live compositions were performed by members of an amateur bard song club.
Encouraged by the fans, the participants of the festival took the first step towards the vertical wall and a step up along it ... And there everything was smooth. Hook after hook – under the fingers and under the cheering screams of fans and friends – all higher up the sheer wall. Everyone knows what to do as brief instructions were given prior competition. In addition, there is experienced ones among participants of the event.
After you climbed to the very top, you should give a signal to the judges and the insurers. Triumphant palm strike on the upper edge of the wall of the climbing wall. You push off the wall and for a few seconds find yourself in a state of weightlessness for a while. And later, the insurance rope on the belt slowly takes you down to the floor near the wall.
Then each participant waits for the results. Although this is not so important. Today, each of those who tried to climb a vertical wall is a winner anyway. Both those who reached the top and those who were able to pass only a couple of hooks. Each of these personal victories over himself and over circumstances makes life full and eventful.
Festival participants were awarded with certificates and valuable gifts from the organizers. On October 25, the climbing festival will also be held in Balkanabat, where the local Mert Alpinism Club to be its organizer.
Weekend trips with climbers scheduled to be held in the picturesque Kopetdag Mountains are also aimed for the rehabilitation of people with disabilities.
