CIS: Turkmenistan to put forward its proposals on cooperation in Dushanbe

Turkmenistan will participate in the upcoming June 1st meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of the CIS member states in the capital of Tajikistan, Dushanbe. During the meeting, topical areas of partnership in the Commonwealth space, including in the economic sphere, will be considered. In this regard, the Turkmen delegation will discuss issues related to the initiatives of Turkmenistan, voiced at the summit of the heads of state of the CIS in October last year in Sochi. They concern the participation of the Commonwealth member states in large-scale infrastructural projects in the energy and transport-communication spheres. The Turkmen side also proposes to put forward a number of other proposals, including on the effective use of the Caspian potential, the capabilities of the International Sea Port of Turkmenbashi, the expansion of interaction in industry, technology, agriculture, contacts in the field of business structures, in the cultural and humanitarian sphere, et al. Neutral Turkmenistan is an associated member of the CIS and actively participates in integration projects in the CIS area. At the same time, the associated membership allows Turkmenistan not to participate in those projects that, according to Ashgabat, do not fully take into account the interests of the country.
