Turkmenistan strengthens its position in the production of raw silk


Since the beginning of the year, about 1,500 kg of quality silkworms have been prepared in Turkmenistan for use by farming entities. For silk producers, more than 250,000 in 2017 and 119,000 seedlings of mulberry trees this year have been planted accordingly. Information about this was voiced at the government session on April 27.
In 2018, 2030 tons of silkworm cocoons are planned to be produced in the country. To successfully operate and increase the silk production in Turkmenistan, a course for innovative development of textile industry and comprehensive support and stimulation of the farmers in such important thing as production of high quality silk cocoons is taken.
According to the State Statistics Committee of Turkmenistan, in January-March 2018, in the country the production of raw silk was by 33.2 percent more compared to the same period last year.
The specialists of the statistical committee associate the rapid growth of the industry with the well-thought-out financial and social support of entrepreneurs in this field, which leads to a general increase in business activity in rural areas.
