Korea invites Central Asian youth for joint summit


The Asia Exchange Association (AEA) invites the young leaders from five Central Asian nations - Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan to participated in annual Korea-Central Asia Youth Summit.
The 2018 edition of the summit will take place on 1-7 July 2018 in Busan, second most-populous city after Seoul, known as marine capital of Korea. The venue is the Busan Tourism Organization ARPINA, located near the main city’s tourist attractions such as Haeundae beach and being a venue for international forums and festivals.
The main purpose of this event is to raise awareness and deepen understanding of Korea-Central Asia relationship among the younger generation and provide a stage where young leaders from Korea and Central Asia can share ideas and thoughts on global issues, and also establish networks through academic and cultural exchange activities.
According to the rules, each country delegation, consisting of 4 delegates, representing their country in each committee. As a delegate, participants hold research on key issues on the committee’s agenda and to prepare the keynote speech, which describes represented country’s position and possible solutions. The official language is English.
This year the young representatives of their countries will devote debates to such themes as mutual cooperation to prevent and curb the spread of terrorism. And the second committee’s agenda will debate topic of promoting social integration of migrants and diasporas in host countries.
Then each idea is discussed during the negotiations with other delegation in order to produce the Joint statement, which is adopted at the model summit.
At the ned of forums, the participants are awarded with special certificates.
Being a KCYS delegate would be a great opportunity for developing in-depth knowledge of global issues as well as debating and negotiating skills while working in team with other participants from countries having diverse opinion.
Moreover, it is good exercise in reaching consensus and connectivity. International exchange of ideas and opinions is useful for personal development of young people, as they will be future decisions-makers and eventually take the responsibility for their country’s image-building at international arena.
The cultural activities give the opportunity to acquaint with Korean traditions and lifestyle.
Turkmen students participate KCYS since 2016. Last year’s summit was devoted to promoting trade through the New Silk Road, nuclear disarmament in Asia, environment.
