During the 27th meeting of the CAREC Energy Sector Coordinating Committee, the correspondent of ORIENT talked with senior specialist of the Department of Energy of the Asian Development Bank Sohail Hasni. Stressing that the forum rather impressed the delegates with the first "prophetic" report on the future of alternative energy, the interlocutor drew attention to the great prospects of this branch in Turkmenistan .Eziz OVEZOV
"Here you can build the most profitable solar farms for generating electricity for export. I myself was in Mary, Balkanabat and I know that there is a huge potential for solar power stations. Therefore, Turkmenistan has great prospects in this area."
"Moreover, every roof in the country can be "solar". The use of electric vehicles working on renewable sources of electricity is also very promising for Turkmenistan. And it's not just the sun and the number of sunny days. The country is also very rich in high-quality silicon, from which it is possible to create efficient solar panels."
During the conversation, Mr. Hasni also pointed to the great prospects of the TAPI pipeline, reminding that gas will remain one of the most popular "classical" types of energy carriers in the world.
The interlocutor separately stressed that ADB is interested in expanding its participation in the project, especially in light of the news about the beginning of the construction of the Afghan section of the gas pipeline and the construction of a power transmission line from Turkmenistan through Afghanistan to Pakistan.
