Transit cargo traffic via Turkmenistan increased by 41 percent

There are 334 thousand tons of transit cargo were transported via territory of Turkmenistan in January 2018, which is by 41 percent more than the same period of 2017, the State Statistics Committee of Turkmenistan reports. The prevailing part of transit cargo was transported by rail (66.5 percent) and by road (30.1 percent) by transport. At January 2018, in whole, 418.2 thousand tons of export cargo was transported by all types of transport (except pipeline), which is 29.5 percent more than in January 2017. The share of railways made up 41.2 percent, of road transport – 38.7 percent, and water transport – 20.1 percent. At the same time, the traffic volume of imported cargo decreased by 24,9 percent. The major share in this sector made up road transport – 48.8 percent. The share of railway transport is 34.6 percent, of water transport – 16.3 percent and air transport – 0.3 percent.
