“Not weak” girl in weightlifting: Kristina Shermetova

In honor of the International Women's Day ORIENT decided to talk about one of the representatives of the “weaker sex”, who achieved success in such not “female” sport as weightlifting. This is a 1st year student of the National Institute of Sports and Tourism of Turkmenistan Kristina Shermetova. In her 24 years, Christina is a many times champion of Turkmenistan, a silver medalist of the World Championship, a bronze medalist of the Asian Championships and 5th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games. - In 2007, when I was 14 years old, I decided to try myself at a women's school in weightlifting, which was about opening, - Kristina said.
Since then, weightlifting has come firmly into the life of a schoolgirl from Abadan.
The bronze medal of the 2009 Asian Youth Championship in the weight category up to 48 kg was first award she won internationally. The bronze of the 2011 Asian Weightlifting Championships followed it.
Moreover, the year of 2017 was the most successful in her career. The sportswoman's box was replenished with two awards more: of the 5th Asian Games in Ashgabat and the World Championship in the American Anaheim in the 53 kg weight class.
- Now I am getting prepared for two important competitions - the Summer Asian Games in Jakarta, which starts on August 18 and the World Weightlifting Championship, which will be held in Ashgabat this November, shares Kristina.
Together with the other members of the national team, she now at the training camp in Shymkent, Kazakhstan, where she has intensive training under the guidance of the trainer of the women's weightlifting team Akhmed Saryev.
There is a huge number of girls in the world involved in different sports. However, each of them, being bold on the tatami or tireless on the playing field, or lifting a heavy barbell on the platform, remains the soul tender, fragile and timid. Moreover, every woman need special attention at this holiday day.
