Novruz, Gorsh and Turkmen cuisine - Eastern culture festival to be held in Grodno

The Open Culture Festival "Novruz-Bayram", organized by the Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno on the initiative of student volunteers from Turkmenistan, will be held on March 23rd in the Belarusian city of Grodno. This event will include a tournament on the Turkmen national wrestling, a competition for creative works "New Day" and interactive venues. Representatives of higher educational institutions of the Republic of Belarus and other countries, including students, masters and post-graduate students, can take part in the tournament in Turkmen goresh. Each university will be represented by 3 people who have passed the qualifying stage on the basis of their educational institution in three weight categories: up to 70 kg, from 70 to 80 kg and above 80 kg. The idea of such a festival was unanimously supported by the leadership of the university and the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the Republic of Belarus. A variety of Turkmen culture will be demonstrated on interactive platforms, where students will introduce the audience with weaving aladzha, national games and samples of folk clothes. Also for those who wish, a short course of the Turkmen language will be held, Turkmen dishes will be presented for tasting, information on the ingredients and cooking recipes will be placed immediately on special stands. The organizers of the most original interactive venue will be awarded with memorable prizes. Concerning the contest of creative works "New Day", the "creations" in such formats as photography, video and essays should reflect the idea of the Novruz holiday - a holiday of spring. The winners in the three categories will be determined by voting. Last year this festival was held under the name "Open Festival of Turkmen Culture of Novruz Bayramy". Turkmen students studying abroad actively represent their culture in other countries. This is to some extent connected with light sadness in missing the homeland, and with the desire to acquaint new friends with Turkmenistan and its centuries-old history and culture.Aijahan ATABALLYEVA
