Turkmen young boxers to compete at tournament in Belarus


On 24 March the Turkmen junior squad will leave for the Belarusian city of Zhlobin to participate in the International Junior Boxing tournament dedicated to the memory of the famous coach Alfrit Akhmetov.
Young knockout masters from the host country, Moldova, Russia and Ukraine will meet on the rings of Zhlobin specialized school of Olympic reserve on 27-31 March.
This tournament, traditionally held since 1991, serves as an occasion to recall the well-known in the world of big-time sports mentor A. Akhmetov, who brought up a number of champions.
Athletes from Turkmenistan regularly participate in international competitions, hosted by Belarus. In February of this year, the Turkmen team successfully performed at the Open Sambo championship of the Republic of Belarus and won five medals.
Ashgabat and Minsk intend to actively develop partnership in the sports arena in the future. So, the Ministry of sports and youth policy of Turkmenistan jointly with Belarusian colleagues has developed a program of cooperation in the field of physical culture and sports for 2018-2019.
The document provides for participation of national teams of Belarus and Turkmenistan in international competitions held in the territory of the two countries, sports exchanges, cooperation in coaching, sports science, sports medicine and anti-doping control.
