In early March this year, the direct air service between Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan is planned to be renewed, Uzbek media reported. As Shiri Shiriyev, the Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Uzbekistan, said, at present the sides are working hard to open a direct flight Ashgabat-Tashkent. Initially, Turkmen Airlines “Turkmenhowayollary” will carry out flights, roughly two times a week. Moreover, the frequency of flights will be increased in future, and the Uzbek side will carry out some of the flights. In May 2017, during the visit of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Turkmenistan, the Memorandum of Understanding on air service and the Agreement on service and provision of on-board meals to the aircraft of the Turkmen airline at the International Airport of Tashkent were signed. Also during negotiations of the two leaders, the draft commercial interline agreement, which includes the recognition of the shipping documents of both parties and the right to issue air tickets for partner flights, was considered. In May 2013, air traffic between neighboring countries was interrupted due to unprofitability. At that time, the Uzbek side performed flights.Nobara KERIMOVA
