Turkmenistan and U.S.-based AECOM Discuss Investments in Shipbuilding and a "Single Window" System for the Port of Turkmenbashi

Negotiations took place in Turkmenbashi between the leadership of the State Service of Maritime and River Transport of Turkmenistan and a regional delegation from the international engineering and consulting firm AECOM (USA).
The primary focus of the meeting was the involvement of American specialists in modernizing port logistics and developing Eurasian transit routes as part of the "Enhancing the Competitiveness of Transport Corridors in Central Asia" (TCTR, 2026–2028) program.
AECOM representatives presented proposals for securing investments from international financial institutions, specifically the Islamic Development Bank. These funds are intended to finance projects for the construction of new vessels at the Balkan Shipyard and the implementation of a digital "Single Maritime Window" system at the International Seaport of Turkmenbashi.

The parties also discussed integrating national port infrastructure into Eurasian multimodal routes, including the Middle Corridor. At the conclusion of the visit, the AECOM experts toured the facilities at the Port of Turkmenbashi and accepted an invitation to participate in an international transport forum, scheduled to be held in Ashgabat from November 24–26, 2026.
