Meeting of the Council of Commanders of Border Troops of CIS Countries Held in Astana

On October 29, the 93rd meeting of the Council of Commanders of Border Troops of the CIS member states took place in Astana. A delegation from the border agency of Turkmenistan participated in the forum.
The meeting brought together the heads of border services from the Commonwealth countries, as well as representatives from key executive, law enforcement, and counter-terrorism structures of the CIS, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), and the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO).
Participants addressed a range of issues concerning the strengthening of security along external borders, combating cross-border crime, and developing specialized cooperation.

Particular attention was paid to information security. Nurlan Seitimov, Deputy Secretary General of the CIS, emphasized that the adoption of the "Fundamentals of CIS Information Policy in the Border Sphere"—endorsed by the heads of state on October 9 in Turkmenistan—marks a qualitatively new stage in cooperation.
According to him, the approval of this strategic document enables a shift toward the systematic consolidation of efforts to counter modern hybrid threats and the creation of a unified, secure information space along the external borders of the Commonwealth.
