Turkmenistan and Pakistan to Expand Cooperation in Religious Education

On October 26, Yalkap Khojagulyyev, Chairman of the "Arkadag Spiritual Mosque" religious organization and Chief Imam, began a working visit to Pakistan.
The visit is aimed at fostering international cooperation in the fields of Islamic scholarship, culture, and the training of qualified specialists, according to the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
During the first day of his visit, Yalkap Khojagulyyev held a series of meetings with key officials from relevant Pakistani institutions.

In particular, discussions were held with Ibrar Ahmad Mirza, Federal Secretary of the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony; Muhammad Raghib Hussain Naeemi, Chairman of the Council of Islamic Ideology of Pakistan; and Shafiq-ur-Rehman, a representative of the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan.
The Turkmen side provided its foreign counterparts with detailed information on large-scale projects being implemented with the support of the National Leader of the Turkmen people and Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, and the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov.

During the talks, special attention was paid to the construction of the "Arkadag Spiritual Mosque"—designed to accommodate 30,000 worshippers—in the city of Arkadag, which will become the largest of its kind in Central Asia, as well as the establishment of a higher religious educational institution alongside it.
Following the meetings, the parties discussed the prospects for forging close partnerships between the relevant agencies of the two countries, expressing a firm commitment to exchanging expertise, enhancing curricula, and collaborating on the training of religious personnel.
