Kuala Lumpur hosts the Southeast Asian Games
The legendary festival of sports games of Southeast Asia - SEA Games, is in the midst in Kuala Lumpur.
More than 4500 sportsmen from 11 countries take part in sports competitions . In total, the festival program includes about 400 events, including, in addition to professional competitions, demonstration performances, sports shows and amateur contests.
The intense competition section consist of tournaments in gymnastics, volleyball, tennis, basketball, netball, boxing, football, equestrian sport, golf, etc., as well as taekwondo, karate and many other Asian martial arts. There is also hockey, which ceases to be an exotic sport for Malaysia. Ice arenas have long been a rarity for this hot country.
The 29th SEA Games sports festival in Kuala Lumpur, which started on August 19th, will last until August 30th. The Talisman of the Games is a graceful and powerful Malay tiger.

Games of South-East Asia are held every two years under the patronage of the Olympic Council of Asia and the International Olympic Committee.
The first Games took place in 1959 in Bangkok, Thailand.
