Head of the State Commodity and Raw Materials Exchange of Turkmenistan Holds Talks in Vienna

On October 22–23, a delegation from the State Commodity and Raw Materials Exchange of Turkmenistan (SCRMET), led by its Chairman Batyr Volsakhatov, paid a working visit to Vienna. The trip was aimed at expanding trade and economic cooperation, developing commodity exchange, and studying the Austrian experience in exchange-based trading, according to the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the Republic of Austria.
During the visit, the Turkmen delegation held a series of specialized meetings with the leadership of key Austrian economic institutions. In discussions with Ernst Gaus, President of the Vienna Agricultural Commodity Exchange, and Karl Schneider, Secretary of the Exchange, the parties examined practical mechanisms for institutional partnership, options for boosting trade in agricultural products, and opportunities for introducing exchange-traded goods into each other’s markets.

A separate set of issues concerning export-import potential was addressed during a meeting with Dražen Maloča, Director for Southeast and Eastern Europe and Central Asia at the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber (WKÖ). The participants focused on identifying new growth areas for mutually beneficial business, simplifying trade procedures, and fostering contacts between the business communities of Turkmenistan and Austria.
