IKEA’s Smart Alarm Clock: Smartphone Charging, Climate Sensors, and a Way to Reduce Screen Time

IKEA has introduced the Stengrönska, a multifunctional alarm clock designed as a convenient and practical alternative to keeping a smartphone on your bedside table. This new device combines a clock, a climate monitor, and a charging station, helping users reduce their screen time before bed.
Measuring 17×16×3.6 cm, the compact unit features a flat top panel that doubles as a wireless charger for smartphones. A USB-C port on the back allows for simultaneous charging of two devices—one via a wired connection and the other wirelessly.

The display, which has adjustable brightness, shows the time, date, and day of the week, as well as key indoor climate data: temperature and humidity levels. Users can set up to three independent alarms, each with adjustable volume.
The developers emphasize that the Stengrönska helps foster healthy habits; by eliminating the need to keep a phone under a pillow or use it as an alarm clock, users are less likely to be distracted by notifications before going to sleep.
The device is currently available for purchase in Japan and China, priced at approximately 32 USD.
