Turkmenistan’s Delegation Participates in International Transport Forums in Astana

From October 14 to 16, Astana is hosting major international meetings focused on the development of transport and logistics in Eurasia. The delegation from Turkmenistan is led by Silapberdi Nurberdyyev, Deputy Minister of Railway Transport. It also includes heads of key relevant agencies, as well as representatives from the country’s railway, aviation, road transport, and shipbuilding sectors.
The central events on the agenda include the 8th "New Silk Way" Business Forum, the 14th Meeting of Transport Ministers of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) member states, and the 46th Meeting of the Coordinating Transport Conference of the CIS Member States. These forums serve as platforms for discussing the strengthening of regional ties, the removal of barriers to transportation, and the integration of digital technologies and artificial intelligence into logistics.

For Turkmenistan, the development of international infrastructure and the enhancement of transit potential remain key priorities. Particular attention is focused on promoting the China–Kazakhstan–Turkmenistan–Iran and China–Kazakhstan–Uzbekistan–Turkmenistan–Iran routes, as well as the Trans-Caspian transport corridor. Expanding these routes helps to reduce cargo delivery times and significantly increase the volume of container shipments between Asia and Europe.

Through the modernization of the International Seaport of Turkmenbashi, the upgrading of railway networks, and the simplification of border procedures, Turkmenistan is strengthening its position as a reliable and vital logistics hub at the crossroads of the East–West and North–South corridors.
