Turkmenistan to Present New Package of Proposals at C5+1 Ministerial Meeting in Samarkand

At a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan held on October 17, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov reported on preparations for the upcoming meeting of foreign ministers from Central Asian countries and the United States, scheduled for October 19 in Samarkand.
Having gained unique experience as a co-chair of the C5+1 diplomatic platform’s Secretariat for the period from September 2025 to September 2026, Ashgabat is preparing a constructive package of proposals covering key areas of multilateral partnership.
It was Turkmenistan that first set the trend toward a substantive, thematic focus for this format, actively promoting topics such as digital technologies and the potential of artificial intelligence. The agenda for the upcoming forum will include not only ministerial talks but also extensive business sessions focused on investments in critical minerals, energy, transport infrastructure, the agro-industrial complex, and healthcare.
On the sidelines of the Samarkand meeting, bilateral discussions are also planned between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the U.S. Secretary of State. These talks will serve to align positions ahead of the next round of Turkmen-U.S. political consultations—scheduled for November 3 in Ashgabat—and to facilitate the preparation of a final Joint Declaration.
