Malaysia and Eni Explore Synergy Opportunities in the Energy Sector

Mohd Suhaimi Ahmad Tajuddin, Ambassador of Malaysia to Turkmenistan, met with Giorgio Castriota Scanderbeg, Managing Director of Eni Turkmenistan.
According to the diplomatic mission, the discussion focused on evaluating ongoing projects in Turkmenistan’s oil and gas sector and identifying areas of synergy between the Italian energy giant and Malaysian high-tech companies.
This dialogue reflects a global trend of combining the efforts of international operators and specialized service providers to enhance production efficiency, implement advanced environmental solutions, and diversify production infrastructure.
The meeting in Ashgabat marked a significant step in preparations for the upcoming business mission involving 14 leading Malaysian oil and gas services and equipment (OGSE) enterprises. This business delegation is being organized by the state-owned Malaysia Petroleum Resources Corporation (MPRC) under the auspices of Malaysia’s Ministry of Economy.
While Malaysia’s presence in Turkmenistan’s fuel and energy sector was previously associated primarily with the long-standing flagship operations of Petronas Carigali, the current phase marks the entry of an entire cluster of service and engineering companies into the market.
The Malaysian OGSE sector—comprising approximately 3,000 companies with a combined annual output of around US$20 billion—is ready to offer Turkmenistan’s energy industry solutions in deep drilling, digital field modernization, and carbon footprint reduction.
Direct engagement between the Malaysian diplomatic mission and the management of Eni Turkmenistan confirms that Kuala Lumpur views Ashgabat not only as a strategic foothold in Central Asia but also as an international platform for trilateral cooperation with leading global corporations.
