Russia says it is ready to help Iran ease regional tensions
Russia is ready to assist Iran in resolving the current regional tensions, Russian President Vladimir Putin said Thursday during a meeting with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian.
The talks took place after Putin arrived in Turkmenistan to attend a summit of the Commonwealth of Independent States, which begins Friday in the Caspian Sea resort of Avaza.
Putin said Iran was making concrete efforts to bring the conflict to an end and reaffirmed Russia's willingness to help facilitate a settlement.
Pezeshkian said Iran had already put forward its own proposal, while the United States had presented a new one that Tehran is currently reviewing and revising. Once the revisions are completed, Iran plans to arrange a meeting with the United States through mediators, according to Pezeshkian.
According to CCTV+, the meeting in Turkmenistan focused on possible diplomatic steps to reduce regional tensions and continue dialogue among the parties involved.
