Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan Establish a Supreme Council for Strategic Partnership

On October 8, a bilateral meeting took place in Avaza between President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, and President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, on the sidelines of the summit events. The Uzbek leader congratulated Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the entire Turkmen people on the 35th anniversary of the country's independence, as well as on the success of the major events organized during Turkmenistan’s chairmanship of the Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia and Azerbaijan and the Commonwealth of Independent States.
During the meeting, an agreement was signed to establish a Supreme Council for Strategic Partnership. The document lays a solid institutional foundation for further deepening political dialogue, elevating interstate relations to a qualitatively new level, and ensuring the regular coordination of key joint projects.

The Presidents highly commended the positive momentum in trade and economic cooperation, noting the steady growth in mutual trade figures since the beginning of the year as well as the role of the Shavat-Dashoguz border trade zone. To consolidate the results achieved, the parties emphasized the strategic importance of adopting a plan of measures to multiply the volume of mutual trade and implementing an industrial cooperation program covering key sectors—ranging from energy, transport, industry, and agriculture to water resource management and the strengthening of direct interregional dialogue.
