Steady GDP Growth and Industrial Performance Confirm Turkmenistan’s Economic Resilience

The results of the national economy’s performance for the first nine months of 2026, reviewed by President Serdar Berdimuhamedov at a Cabinet of Ministers meeting on Friday, October 2, demonstrated the steady development of the real sector and the effective implementation of state programs.
GDP growth serves as a key indicator of macroeconomic stability; the rate was recorded at 6.3% for the January–September period. Meanwhile, foreign trade turnover increased by 8.3% and retail trade volume rose by 10.5%, reflecting strong domestic purchasing power, financial stability, and the timely fulfillment of all social obligations, including the payment of wages, pensions, and state allowances.
Key sectors of the national economy are maintaining a steady pace of modernization and are exceeding production targets. Within the fuel and energy complex, the State Concern "Turkmennebit" has surpassed planned oil and gas extraction figures while also increasing the output of gasoline, diesel fuel, and liquefied gas.
The industrial and construction sectors are demonstrating high productivity, with production volumes rising by 20.9%, while investments in the agro-industrial complex have grown by 44.2%. The Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs continues to play an active role in strengthening food and industrial independence, having secured an approximately 10% increase in the output of domestic products.
The transport and communications sector serves as a key driver of the country's integration into international logistics chains, recording a 14.7% increase in the volume of services and operations performed. Air and road transport, as well as the communications and digital technology sectors, are showing strong growth momentum.
Alongside its administrative achievements, the government continues to strengthen the legal and regulatory framework; within this context, the national parliament has enacted a number of laws over the past nine months, including a specific legislative act on the state protection of Akhal-Teke horses.
In assessing these results, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized that the steady growth of key economic sectors serves as a solid foundation for further improving citizens' living standards and implementing large-scale infrastructure projects.
