Saturn, Mars and Two Meteor Showers: What the October Night Sky Will Offer

Astronomy enthusiasts and stargazers can look forward to several spectacular celestial events in October. Throughout the month, it will be possible to observe the giant planets, Mars, as well as two meteor showers.
The main astronomical events of the month will be the peaks of the Draconid and Orionid meteor showers. The Draconids will reach their peak in early October, while the Orionids will peak in the second half of the month. On these nights, weather permitting and away from city lights, falling “stars” can be observed with the naked eye.
In addition, October will offer excellent visibility for observing Saturn and Jupiter. Saturn will be clearly visible in the evening, while Jupiter and the bright red Mars will adorn the night and pre-dawn sky. On certain days of the month, the Moon will pass close to these planets, creating beautiful celestial reference points for observers.
Comfortable observation of most of these events will not require special optical equipment — it will be enough to choose an open area with minimal light pollution.
