Starlink in the Sky: SWISS Launches Free Internet on Its Flights

SWISS has begun equipping its aircraft with Starlink satellite internet from SpaceX. The first Airbus A320neo fitted with the new connectivity system has already departed from Zurich for Thessaloniki.
The main advantages of the technology are high speed and stability. Thanks to antennas installed on the aircraft fuselage and satellites in low Earth orbit, the internet connection remains available throughout the entire flight, even when flying over the ocean.
Wi-Fi is free in all travel classes, from Economy to First Class. To connect, passengers simply need to log in to their Travel ID profile or use their Miles & More card. The only restriction is a ban on voice and video calls in order to avoid disturbing other passengers.
SWISS has become part of the global modernization program of the Lufthansa Group. By the end of 2029, the holding company plans to equip more than 850 aircraft across its group with Starlink, including aircraft operated by Lufthansa, SWISS, Austrian Airlines and Brussels Airlines.
