Public organizations of Turkmenistan to involve in a National Program on Early Intervention
The Public Organization “Yenme” (“Overcoming”), known in Turkmenistan, whose activity is aimed at providing social support to disable people, has launched a new program on early intervention, within which diagnostics of the actual childhood development will be carried out.
The purpose of this program, focused on the family approach, is to identify disturbance of infant development from the first days of life up to 4 years. For this, qualified speech therapists, psychologists, physiotherapists, specialists in ergotherapy (restoration of motor skills), who will provide the necessary consultation and advise an individual technique, are involved.
Medical advisers will consult on issues such as behavioral intervention, social skills formation; improvement of interrelations in society as well as training of young parents how to support their children.
About 20 families have already been consulted by the public organization. According to the staff, the parents were satisfied with the results of the work done.
Within the framework of Turkmenistan's cooperation with UNICEF, there is an early child development program that provides training for national coachs and specialists in this field. In addition, the “Concept on Developmental Pediatrics and Early detection and intervention services in Turkmenistan” was adopted.
